Ever come across "alot", when you know the writer means "a lot", and gritted your teeth in frustration. This
blogger has a suggested coping mechanism, create a mental image and take the writer literally. so when you see "alot", imagine...

The Alot is an imaginary creature designed to help deal with the compulsive need to correct other people's grammar. It kind of looks like a cross between a bear, a yak and a pug, and it provides hours of entertainment in a situation where one would normally be left feeling angry and disillusioned with the world.
For example, when reading the sentence "I care about this alot," I imagine:

Similarly, when someone says "alot of _______", picture an Alot made out of whatever they are talking about.

If someone says something like "I feel lonely alot" or "I'm angry alot," imagine them standing there with an emo haircut, sharing their feelings with an Alot.

The Alot is incredibly versatile.
